It has now been revealed by that the stomach problem was caused by Mbappe suffering food poisoning shortly before leaving for the USA.

Mbappe began to feel ill before travelling and suffered from dehydration. But the condition worsened while he was in the States as he began to feel nauseous, had a fever and stomach pain. He was put on a drip in hospital and medical tests revealed that he had suffered from food poisoning as a result of bacteria present in chicken that Mbappe had eaten.

Mbappe lost a total of six kilograms due to the condition and did not make the squad for any of Madrid's group matches. He came off the bench in the 1-0 win over Juventus in the last 16 and against Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals, scoring a last-gasp bicycle kick in the 3-2 win over the Germans.
Mbappe will come up against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday for the first time since leaving the club in 2024 as Madrid take on the Champions League holders in the Club World Cup semi-finals at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
